It's been awhile... again

Been pretty busy lately.  Eve and I went to Alabama last week to spend time with my sister's family and meet their new baby, Jacob.  Eve and Abby had a great time together (starting VERY early in the morning), while I followed them all over the house to keep them safe.  We had lots of quiet moments with the sweet new baby, celebrated the 4th of July and Abby's birthday, and just enjoyed hanging out together.

Eve is 19 months old now.  Every day is an adventure, some more exhausting than others.  :)  We've been spending our summer at playdates with friends, the waterpark at the YMCA down the street, storytime at the Amon Carter Museum...  and random other things.  We're going on a family vacation in a few days to San Antonio - can't wait to take Eve to Shlitterbahn!  I plan on getting one of those child-leashes before we leave, so that we don't have to fish Eve out of the River Walk.  Never thought I'd be getting on of those...

distractions if you need them

I'm sitting at my parents' house - alone except for my daughter (asleep) and my parents' dog (also asleep).  It's been quite a day...

Found notes of interest in my email that I thought were worth sharing.

Presidential Candidate Quiz

Wondering which candidates you agree/disagree with on different issues?  I found this handy dandy quiz today that may or may not be helpful for you.  It's interesting at least.

The site offers the following disclaimer:
Answer the 11 questions below to find out which candidates are most aligned with your views and opinions. You may skip questions if you do not want them factored into the results. This quiz is not meant to pick your candidate for you. It is designed to inform the public of the various stances candidates make. Results are not scientific. The WQAD candidate survey is based on the original SELECT A CANDIDATE survey developed by Minnesota Public Radio and posted at: http://minnesota.publicradio.org/projects/ongoing/select_a_candidate/. Gotcha!

That's what I think every time I see Eve make this face.  It was fun to catch it on camera - it's not like babies hold poses or anything.  Eve is crawling, pulling up, growing teeth, and getting into EVERYTHING.  She loves to swim, and we've been able to do a lot of it this summer.  9 Months Olds is just around the corner, along with lots more finger foods, more teeth, more independence and exploring...  She's a happy little handful.

We've been family vacations to Minnesota and Arkansas this summer.  It's different vacationing with a baby and a lot more work, but pretty cool, too.

We're going to travel to Alabama in a few weeks  to see Bev, Will and Abby.  Road trip!

Time passes quickly

Eve is five months old.  Unbelievable.  She's trying to sit up on her own, she grabs and chews on everything, she wants to drink out of a cup (which is so cute and hilarious to watch), she loves to play with her toys ... Friday she giggled at peek-a-boo for the first time.  So adorable.

Life is happy and good.  In many ways, it's more simple.  We go on walks and to different parks several times a week.  Eve loves to be outside, looking up at the trees and watching squirrels - it's a very peaceful and refreshing to go outdoors together.

We had a great time in Arkansas this last week visiting Bev and Abby.   We took a lot of fun pictures.
